10 x 10 Wardrobe Challenge Update

So you might remember my recent post in which I said I was going to attempt to do the 10 x 10 wardrobe challenge. The challenge essentially means selecting 10 items of clothing, including shoes and coats, and wearing only those items over the course of 10 days. So I’m back today to let you know how I got on with it.

I did myself a massive favour by choosing items that I really love to wear so I didn’t find myself particularly avoiding anything and I think they all paired together reasonably well so I could get a bit of variety. There was one stand out piece that I really enjoyed wearing, and I think it’s probably because it’s the newest one, my burgundy jumper from boohoo was something I wanted to reach for every day- probably because it’s been so bloody cold. I’m going to have to refrain from wearing this for a week or so now because everyone will most likely be sick of seeing me wear it after this little challenge.

The main problem I encountered if you can call it that, was that I ended up working an additional day on top of what I had thought I would be. So that meant I spent 2 days wearing my uniform, and on both of those days I came straight home and put my pyjamas on so they were a total write off in terms of this challenge- my bad, I tried. I did add an additional day on at the end of this experiment to make up for it and on one of the days I wore 2 outfits as I went on a night out so that’s kind of 10 right? At this point I’d like to apologise for my poor mirror selfies, my dirty mirror and the mess in my room behind me! So without further ado here are the outfits….

  1. Red Jumper, Blue Jeans and Converse.

  9. Black Roll-neck, Denim Dress and Chelsea Boots.
  10. Striped t-shirt, Blue Jeans and Converse.
  11. Cashmere Jumper, Denim Dress and Chelsea Boots (OUTFIT REPEATOR!)
  12. Black Roll-neck, Vinyl Skirt and Converse.

So there you have it, that’s what I came up with! I could probably have done bringing the striped t-shirt and black roll-neck into the mix a little sooner, but what can you do when you’re freezing cold and need a chunky knit on for basically a whole week? Also apologies that I didn’t take a photo everyday- I had one job and I messed it up, what can I say? This mini-capsule has taught me that I can easily manage with less clothes, so clearly I don’t need to go buying loads. It’s also shown me how easy it is to pack light for a holiday, if you choose items which are weather appropriate of course. I think I will probably attempt to do this again in the spring/summer months so I can see how well it works with items that are harder to layer!

    You did a great job! I also have a hard time not grabbing my favourite item and wearing it everyday! I love both your posts on the 10×10 challenge. It’s inspired me to try take it on myself! We’re in opposite seasons though, so the clothes I’ve picked are much less layered haha!
