First of all I want to say Happy Easter! I hope your day is filled with chocolate and laziness and family. I thought I’d go back quite old school here with a ‘What’s in my Bag?’ post, I mean really can I even consider myself a blogger until I’ve hit this milestone? I think not, so grab yourself the nearest Easter Egg and get comfy.
Now I am by no means a handbag addict, some people spend thousands on the perfect bag, not me, I accidentally ruin all my bags eventually so there’s no point investing in designer luxury right now, as nice as they might be. So for now I’m content with my New Look Blue Suedette Bucket Bag which cost me less than £20. This bag fits a surprising amount of stuff in it and the Navy colour goes reasonably well with most things (except I’ve tragically photographed it with an all blue ensemble oooops). I am on the look out for a new one but the problem is I have no idea what I want, is it something of a similar size to this but in black? Or is it a larger shopper style bag that can fit all my crap in? Who knows, anyway here’s what I carry round with me at the moment.
I cannot cope without having my diary on me, you may be able to tell from my how to be productive blog post but I like to write everything down at all times so I know what’s happening. So this is guaranteed to always be in my handbag. This academic year one is from Paperchase and I usually go for one this size as its lightweight but still has a week on 2 pages so has enough room to scribble everything down.
Continuing on the theme of organisation I keep my blogging notebook with me at all times because I seem to have bursts of inspiration and ideas at the weirdest time and when I’m out of the house. Again this one is also from Paperchase, although I don’t think this is still available, I do think they have other newer designs in this woven/stitched style.
Next up I always carry my book with me so that I’m not bored on my break at work if the canteen is quiet or if I stay at Josh’s flat but he wants to play Fifa or has Uni work to do. At the time of taking these photos it was The Life Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo, but I have since finished that (highly recommend btw) and I have moved onto Hollow City by Ransom Riggs. These 3 books make up the bulk of the weight inside my handbag but it’s worth it so that I feel organised and am entertained.
I also carry my camera with me sometimes if I think there will be good photo opportunities, such as when I’m going into town or for a walk or just if I need to take some blog photos for a post. I don’t take this everywhere with me, it would be silly to take it to work and Uni with me, but I like to know I can get good photos if the opportunity presents itself.
Next up boring bits like keys, this is pretty obvious I need keys to get into my car, my house, my house at uni, my locker at work etc etc- I didn’t bother photographing them all- you all know what a key looks like.
My purse is obviously an essential, this one is from River Island and cost me £10- fun fact, 2 of my friends also have this purse so it’s not ideal when we all put them down on the table to remember who’s is who’s. I don’t think you can get this exact design anymore but you can get a very similar one with the same shape here. My purse is basically a home for my cards, money, boots card, change and occasionally a memory stick, this size is really ideal as you can cram loads in but it’s slim style doesn’t allow for you to hoard receipts and useless bits of paper.
For some reason I didn’t put my phone in this flatlay – probably because it was glued to my hand but I always have my iPhone 6 Plus with me, with its trusty elephant case on it from Ebay. There’s not really much to say about it but I’m constantly using my phone to take photos or scroll through WordPress Instagram, you can follow me here.
Here in the UK the weather is pretty unpredictable so I have to carry round both an umbrella and some sunglasses because it could either chuck it down with rain or turn into a heatwave within minutes. The umbrella is from Accessorize and has served me well having NEVER flipped inside out and the sunglasses are Marc Jacobs from Boots Opticians and I absolutely love them.
Then we have miscellaneous bits and bobs like earphones, chewing gum, my hairbrush and a pen. I keep a pen to write in my diary and blog book, earphones so I can drown out school kids on the bus on the way to uni and chewing gum most likely for other people asking than for myself. The Hairbrush is a Tangle Tamer that my friend Amy bought me as a joke one Christmas as my hair was that out of control at the time an actually turned out to be the best hairbrush ever!A couple of other bits that I forgot to photograph include my Blistex Intensive Moisturiser Hydrating Lip Cream, as I said the weather here is pretty all over the place and it takes it’s toll on your skin and lips so I just always keep this handy. Another lip product is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm, I don’t carry around full makeup bag everyday as I don’t see the point and it would be a lie to pretend I did to make this post more interesting. However I bring this around because it is the perfect nude and goes with any outfit or makeup look so I can just chuck it on after a meal if I’ve forgotten the lipstick I’m wearing. Also although it’s matte, this formula is not drying and for me it’s just the perfect ‘your lips but better’ colour. So thanks for reading this post I hope I haven’t bored you too much. Are the contents of this handbag similar to your own or is there much much more? I feel like mine’s pretty streamlined down to the essentials (apart from the books)- let me know what you think or if you have any nice bag suggestions in the comments below!
