For the first time in 4 years, I had August Bank Holiday free, having spent the previous 3 years at Leeds Festival I didn’t really know what to do with myself when I realised I didn’t have plans. Luckily Amy decide to organise a trip to Manchester for her early-birthday celebrations. So today I thought I’d talk you through what we got up to.
Friday 25th August
Myself, Josh, Amy and her boyfriend Steven headed to Manchester on Friday to meet up with our other friends Sam and Billy for a night out. I was super excited as I’d never been on a proper night out in Manchester before. We stayed in the Motel One Hotel which was really nice and fancy and in a great location. We didn’t hang about for long though, we headed straight out to meet up with our friends at Font Bar, we had some lovely cocktails that were cheap and cheerful, my favourite is the Solero, which tastes exactly like the ice lolly.
Afterwards we headed out to 42’s, which was such a fun night out, the music was great and it reminded me of a hybrid of my 2 favourite clubs at home, Leadmill (for the music) and Corp (for the decor, or lack of). It was nice and busy because the bank holiday coincided with Pride so there were plenty of people about. We sang the words to every song, including me belting out every single word of Jamie T’s Sticks and Stones and there were some questionable dance moves. If you want a sneak peak of our antics check out Amy’s vlog.
Saturday 26th August
The next morning (fuelled by a 3am McDonalds) me and Josh went for a wander into town before we were due to meet up with Amy and Steven. We stopped for a nice cuppa at Propertea before we headed on to Nando’s for a a full meal, which we demolished in about 6 minutes flat.
Later on we checked out some record shops including Fopp and Afflecks, the vintage/retro/random emporium, where I picked up new Sundara Karma and Foals records and a little black shirt dress. We finished the day by chilling on Piccadilly Gardens until we were due to get our train home. I had such a nice day, especially considering I work nearly all Saturdays so I have to take advantage of my days off.
Sunday 27th August
Sunday was a pretty lazy day, I photographed, wrote and published my August Empties blog post as my empties drawer was at the point of overflow, whilst I listened to my new vinyls. Then in the afternoon myself and Josh went home to see his family where we all had a lovely Indian takeaway and watched Night at the Museum 3- in my opinion much better than going out for the bank holiday.
Monday 28th August
Yet another sloth day, all we did was watch the Game of Thrones Finale (OMFG) and have a wander down the road for our second Nandos of the weekend, it was yummy. My order btw, for anyone who cares is Chicken Butterfly, chips, spicy rice and halloumi. Not the most exciting of days but it was nice to just relax and not spend the weekend running around. Now I just don’t want to go back to work after 4 lovely days off!
