10 x 10 Wardrobe Challenge

By now you are likely to have picked up on my ramblings about capsule wardrobes and that I’ve been trying to implement my own over the last 6 months or so. The idea is that most items in my wardrobe go together, the choice is less overwhelming and I buy less and only what I need as the seasons change. Pretty simple right? Well I thought I would challenge myself even further over the next couple of weeks.

I’ve decided to attempt the 10×10 challenge which was originally started by Style Bee.

The concept is to select 10 pieces from your wardrobe which you think work together and wear only those items for 10 days. The pieces should be versatile so you can make a multitude of outfits and should be easy to pair together. The challenge includes shoes and coats but not accessories so be wary of this if you want to give this a go yourself. I think the official winter challenge has actually ended today but never mind, l I still want to give it a try and see how I get on.

It’s important to consider the weather and any plans that you have in the coming 10 days to ensure you choose appropriately. There’s no point picking shorts and t-shirts when it’s 8 degrees. There is a handy guide with a downloadable print-out to jot down the items you’ve chosen (so you can’t forget) and also space to write down your outfit each day! I have followed the suggested formula from this sheet which consists of…

2 Shoes

1 Outerwear

2 Bottoms

1 Dress

4 Tops

I know that I’m only going to be in Uni or pottering around the house/ running errands over the next 10 days so my choices can be super casual. I will have work on one of the days but since I have a uniform, workwear does not have to be considered for me. I’ve thrown in a skirt which can be dressed up if a random night out should occur that I have not factored into the equation. As the weather is still pretty cold in the UK I’ve gone for 2 jumpers and 2 long-sleeve tops for my upper half as I’m so nesh there’s no chance I’ll want short sleeves. Jeans seemed like the obvious choice for my other bottoms as they go with everything, alongside a denim dress which again, can be thrown over anything.

My chosen items are;

Hopefully these will be easy enough to match together, nothing stands out as being harder to wear than the others. I just thought this would be a bit of fun just to see if I can stick to it and make it nice and easy to get dressed in a morning. I’m sure with accessories and a bit of lipstick I’ll be able to change up the looks very easily anyway. I’ll probably do another post at the end of this little experiment to let you know how I got on, so be expecting plenty of outfit photos very soon!

Let me know in the comments below what you think to this little challenge or if you have attempted anything similar in the past!
