February Favourites

With the end of February drawing near, I’m hoping that Spring may finally be in the air- it’s about time we had some warmer weather instead of the relentless biting cold. I’ve managed to accumulate a few favourites over the past few weeks, although admittedly not as many as January, but then again it is a shorter months so I suppose that’s to be expected. Not to mention I’ve spent the last couple of weeks glued to my laptop, a slave to my degree, so that really cuts down on the time to find new things I like.

First up, a foodie favourite! I’ve had the Tanya Bakes book by Tanya Burr for a long time, but I’ve really enjoyed using it recently. There’s one recipe in particular that I’ve been really loving, which is her Ginger Loaf. It’s super easy to make, even for a very messy, culinary challenged, baker like myself and it tastes divine. It’s super easy to make with cupboard ingredients that even I have to hand as a student. The recipe makes a perfect gooey sponge which is perfect as an afternoon snack with a warming cup of tea. I’ve lost track of how many of these I’ve made recently, which admittedly is not good as I can’t imagine it’s especially healthy, but they just taste so good that every time me and my housemates finish one, we have to make another.

This next one shouldn’t be much of a surprise, if you kept up with my 10 x 10 Wardrobe Challenge you will know that I pretty much lived in my new Boohoo Burgundy Jumper for well over a week. It is so warm and cosy and it’s so easy to throw on over jeans or tuck into a skirt for a smarter look! Best part about it? It was under 20 quid!! I can’t find the exact one anymore which makes me wonder if it’s sold out but there are some similar ones still online.

There’s one candle which I’ve been burning pretty much non-stop for the whole month and that’s an Apple Cider scented one which I picked up in T K Maxx a while ago. This smells divine, like toffee apples and cinnamon and it is helping me cling onto Christmas just that little bit too long. I’ll actually be gutted when this burns out, I wish I’d bought a couple in the first place to last me longer. Let me know if you know where I can find one of these!

My book favourite of the month is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. I won’t go into too much detail because I’ve actually just written a whole review on it so I’ll save repeating myself. However long story short I loved this book, it’s really given me a boost in confidence after a bout of writers block and it really makes you think about creativity in a different way. If you are a creative person or somebody struggling to write down your ideas, you should most definitely give this a read!

Finally, how can I not mention the fact that I’ve booked 2 holidays this month. Although my bank account does not thank me, I’ll be glad of the plans in Summer. Although I don’t go for ages, the act of booking holidays is in itself actually a favourite of mine. I love the excitement of choosing a destination and hotel, it spurs me to start planning what we can do and start reading into the top attractions to visit whilst there. This month as you already may have seen I’ve booked to go to Rome with Josh around my birthday which is super exciting, and then I’ve also booked to go to Ibiza with my bestie, Amy! Like I say, how can those not be favourites?

So there you have it, a roundup of all the stuff that’s been bringing me joy recently! Let me know what you’ve been loving over the past few weeks in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you.

Gingerbread loaf sounds amazing!! No wonder you keep making it again 😀
I’m also pretty interested in that Big Magic book. Creative/writer’s block is so frustrating, so anything that can help overcome that has me intrigued 🙂

Big Magic sounds like such a good book – I’ve heard about it from several people now so maybe I should check it out. I’ve been getting back into fiction this month – just finished the Burn For Burn series by Jenny Han. xx

Ooooh I’ve actually just picked up another fiction book, this time I’ve gone for Neal Gaiman’s The Ocean At The End Of The Lane! Yes deffo give Big Magic a try if you find yourself at a loss of what to read next x

I love TK maxx candles! The fact that there are only a few of them makes them so unique! One of my favourite candles is from there and I’m a bit sad that I didn’t more when I had the chance 🙂

Same it’s an absolute gold mine and it’s great for seasonal scents! Tell me about it, I wish I’d bought loads of this one because it’s so good and was so cheap too, I may have to go back to scout out something similar soon! Thanks for reading x
