I haven’t done a proper monthly favourites for a long time, so I thought it might be nice to bundle them all together in a summer favourites post instead.
The Leadmill Comedy Club*
Last month, myself and Josh headed to The Leadmill- my favourite events venue in Sheffield, for their monthly Comedy Club. We saw 3 top class comedians who had us both in stitches. They covered everything from life as a Dad, to chatting up the audience using songs. We were picked on for being on the front row by the ruthless compere, but it’s all a bit of fun. Who doesn’t want interrogating about their sex life in front of a room full of strangers? Aside from being roasted by the host all evening, it was a pretty enjoyable night.
You can book tables for larger groups, or just grab a ticket and sit where there’s space. Street Food Chef were there to provide all the burrito needs. I think we’ll definitely be heading back, it’s a great date night, one that will be especially good when the weather starts to turn colder again.
I finally got round to watching American Made, the film with Tom Cruise about drug smuggling and a guy that worked for the CIA and Pablo Escobar. After watching Narcos on Netflix, I’m obsessed with anything to do with the cartels. I loved the way this film was shot, in an 80’s style, which kept flicking back to video recordings. If you want something a bit different to watch, which has drama, violence and is bloody clever, give this a go.
Green People Facial SPF
If you follow me on Instagram you might know about my love for this stuff. A while back, the guys at Green People sent this Scent-free Facial Suncream my way and I can’t get enough of it. It’s factor 30, but what I really love is that it’s non-greasy. It has become part of my routine and I apply it each morning under my makeup to keep me protected from the sun. Although I was sent this, I would 100% purchase it myself, and I will be doing when this bottle runs out.
We Blog North Seminar
Back in July, myself and Amy jumped on the early Sunday morning train to Manchester to attend a WeBlogNorth seminar. I’ve been part of the WeBlogNorth community for ages now and I really wanted to get the most out of the group, gain some advice and meet the lovely ladies who run it. Well I walked away after 3 hours brimming with ideas and having learned so much from like minded content creators. I felt inspired to kick start my blog after neglecting it slightly, and was given the gentle nudge to start making some behind the scenes changes. Holly, Kat and Pamela if you’re reading this, you’re all fabulous!
So that’s some of the stuff that I’ve been loving over the summer months, in addition to the obvious Love Island and Word Cup which both gripped the nation! What have you been enjoying recently? Have you discovered anew favourite place or product? Let me know in the comments below I’d love to hear from you!
*The Leadmill invited me to review the Comedy Club as a complimentary experience, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
