We have a very exciting new venue opening in Sheffield this week. Pitcher & Piano opens it’s doors on Friday 19th October and I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview to tell you all about it!*
On Tuesday night myself and Josh headed down for a press and blogger night to get to know Sheffield’s newest bar and sample the food and drink menus. If you’re not from Sheffield you’ll have to indulge me for this one, but as it’s part of a chain there may well be a Pitcher & Piano near you too! Located on Holly Street next to Barker’s Pool in the city, it is the perfect central location. We were saying it’s great that there is a new bar scene emerging away from West Street where you can grab a few civilised cocktails.
Okay so firstly, as always, let’s talk interiors. I think it’s pretty obvious from previous blog posts, I love me a neon sign. Pair that neon sign with a brick wall and some greenery and you’ve designed my perfect setting. The layout of this place is great, there is an upstairs and a downstairs bar, plenty of space between tables and of course, a piano.
We were greeted on arrival with the choice of beer or Prosecco, so of course we opted for a classic Peroni. We then moved on to trying the cocktail menu. Being a creature of habit I of course went for the Porn Star Martini, so did Josh. These were lovely, they were made fresh in front of us and they were super sweet because of all the fruit I saw them adding in. The problem with these is that they just go down too easily… so naturally I had 4. I was informed by staff that lucky for us Sheffielders, selected cocktails will be 2 for 1 between 5-8pm Monday-Friday. So if you just want a couple of drinks with the girls or you want to have some nice pre-drinks before a night out you can get them at half the price. The other cocktail I tried later in the evening was the Blueberry Rush, one of the House Cocktails, which was as nice as it sounds.
Now, let’s discuss food. Between us we tried quite a few bite size pieces over the evening including Halloumi burgers, halloumi fries, chicken skewers, nachos and beef burgers. All delicious. What I noticed was how tasty and well flavoured each dish was, either with a sauce, marinade or herbs and spices. We were truly spoiled, we sat down and this entire tray of food was brought over for just the two of us to dig into!
The staff we met were ever so nice, they were friendly, offered table service to save us going to the bar and were knowledgable about the drinks menu. They were also sporting some fabulous glitter on the night, I’m talking Ziggy Stardust territory. Unfortunately I decided I probably wouldn’t be able to scrub the glitter off before work the next morning so decided to stay bare faced.
All in all it was a lovely evening. It started out as a nice date night for myself and Josh as we have less spare time now with me working full time and him completing his final year at Uni. As the night went on and the drinks kept flowing we saw it as a great chance to socialise with some fellow bloggers and a few other familiar faces too. This just confirmed to me that it would be the perfect place to come with friends; relaxed, not too noisy that you can’t hear each other and easy for everybody to get to.
So yeah those are just a few thoughts. In a nutshell I’d highly recommend it and I can’t wait to go back and sit and have a full meal at some point, I’m sure I’ll be able to carve out some time.
Have you ever been to a Pitcher & Piano before? Will you be visiting the new Sheffield branch anytime soon? Let me know in the comments below.
*Although we were invited to the event and allowed to sample the menu I was under no obligation to share this post with you. All thoughts and opinions are my own, I just thought you might like to hear about it.
