    Standing At The Sky’s Edge

Well, it’s the musical performance that everybody in Sheffield has been talking about. Standing at the Sky’s Edge, I have to talk about it, because it was absolutely phenomenal. For those of you who aren’t from the area, or those Sheffielders who have been living under a rock, Standing at the Sky’s Edge is a new musical, with music written by Pulp’s Richard Hawley, focussing on Park Hill flats. Park Hill, is a concrete giant which has overlooked the city centre since the late 1950’s and is steeped in local history. Originally built to solve Sheffield’s social housing problem, Park Hill was a community in the sky, a chance for…

The Full Monty Review | AD

Earlier this week I headed across to Manchester with my Mum to see the touring production of The Full Monty at the Manchester Opera House. SPOILER ALERT- They did not leave their hats on! We were kindly gifted the tickets for the opening night in Manchester and were thoroughly impressed with the show. Thanks to WeBlogNorth for organising! As it’s a touring production it’s going to be visiting plenty of venues across the UK, so you can keep an eye out for tickets! With everything that’s going on in the world it seems like there is an overwhelming pressure to do more to be green, but is it ever enough? The issue seems to be that there are too many issues to tackle at once. If i’m not worrying about plastic pollution, i’m worrying about fast fashion, if it’s not that, it’s food waste etc. etc. It goes on and on, and the more your eyes are opened to these issues the more overwhelming it becomes. So for my own piece of mind, and maybe to inspire some of…

    2019 Goals

This year rolled around pretty quickly and we’re already over a week into January, I sense another speedy year like 2018. Today I thought I would jot down my 2019 goals and aspirations for the upcoming year. I don’t like setting new years resolutions and I certainly won’t be beating myself up about not reaching certain targets. I see goal setting as more of a way to help myself check in periodically through the year. I’m going to lay out a few hopes I have for myself in the coming months, then I can look back and see if I need to refocus my attention as the months go by.…

The Library: Food for the Soul

Looking for somewhere to go out for a date night or a catch up with the girls? Have any of you been to The Library* at Attercliffe recently? I bet at this point you’re wondering what on earth I’m on about. Let me explain. This is in fact a review of one of Sheffield’s newest cafe/ restaurants rather than a ramble about the local library service. Now if you’re from Sheffield, I’m sure you’ve got some opinions about the area of Attercliffe. Known for being a bit rough around the edges, it doesn’t seem the typical place for a new hang out. However Attercliffe is following in the footsteps of…
