Standing At The Sky’s Edge Theatre Review

Well, it’s the musical performance that everybody in Sheffield has been talking about. Standing at the Sky’s Edge, I have to talk about it, because it was absolutely phenomenal. For those of you who aren’t from the area, or those Sheffielders who have been living under a rock, Standing at the Sky’s Edge is a new musical, with music written by Pulp’s Richard Hawley, focussing on Park Hill flats. This week I was invited along to The Palace Theatre in Manchester with some fellow WeBlogNorth members to to watch Matilda The Musical*. The show is currently on it’s UK tour and is midway through it’s stint in Manchester, which began back in September and draws to a close on November 24th- so if you like the…

Being a Dementia Friend: Still Alice Review

Today I want to talk about being a Dementia Friend. I recently went to the theatre to watch Still Alice* and become a Dementia Friend, so today I’m going to tell you all about it. If you follow me on instagram you might have seen my stories talking about the event, but if not let me enlighten you. Still Alice is a story about a woman who gets diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s in her 50’s. The show has moved on from Sheffield now but if you get chance to see it elsewhere you should. The production follows Alice and her family from experiencing the tell-tale signs before her diagnosis…
